Are you READY to RUMBLE? No? That’s okay, you don’t have to be. There is no experience needed for this 45-minute heart pumping, exhilarating full body boxing class.
Boxing Inspired Workouts in NYC and LA
Rumble Boxing has one studio in Los Angeles, West Hollywood, and three studios in New York City; Upper East Side, Flatiron/Chelsea, and Noho. Each studio has full locker room with secure lockers, showers, towels, hair dryers, bath products, and post-class necessities. In addition to the gracious amenities, each studio is packed with inspiring art murals, sculptures, and other Instagram-worthy aesthetics.
Before getting started, you'll need sneakers, boxing wraps (available to purchase for $8), boxing gloves (available to rent for $3 or you may bring your own), water (available to purchase for $3). You’ll find that the bags in the studio are not your typical boxing bag. Rather, they are “aqua bags”– tear drop shaped and filled with water. Unlike a typical boxing bag, you won’t experience a recoiling sensation when punching an aqua bag. These bags are much gentler on your joints than a standard boxing bag. Each boxer has their own spot on the floor with a number that corresponds to their bag. Floor layouts can be seen online when booking your class. While there are people on the floor as well as the bags, the instructions are always projected on a screen that wraps around the studio. In addition to your energetic instructor who thoroughly explains what you’re getting yourself into, the screens will further assist you in your workout.
A Great Boxing Workout
The class is broken down into 10 rounds, alternating between the floor and bag area. While jamming to hip hop mashups, there are 6 punches taught in the beginning of each class. So, if you’ve never boxed before you’ll be ready to rumble. You’ll visit your bag twice, and work on a mix of HIIT and strength training circuits on the floor with your personal bench and weights. The combination of cardio and strength training in this class is the perfect recipe to build lean muscle. You’ll find that you will burn approximately 13 calories per minute. Also, your metabolism is likely to speed up between the aerobic and anaerobic stages of class. You’ll quickly realize that boxing is a hidden cardio gem. Suddenly, cardio will become enjoyable, without you realizing all the hard work that you’re putting in during the class. However, your body will take notice: you’re going to be sore in places you didn’t even know you had muscles. Between the leg workouts on the floor, constantly engaging your core, riveting arm exercises, and bouncing around like Rocky, your soreness will remind you of your exhilarating workout. However, everyone’s body is different and you may experience soreness in different places depending on your strengths.
